Missing CLVM on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux cluster node with clustered volume groups

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • A cluster is configured to run clvmd to manage clustered volume groups. One of the cluster nodes is missing clvmd, so clustered services cannot fail over to that node. Since the locking type was set to 1 in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf on each node, this issue did not cause issues starting the cluster services. In addition, rgmanager shows "1 failed" in its cman_tool services output, indicating that one of the nodes acknowledged that it could not start the clustered services in the case of a failover. We need to get CLVM running on both nodes and restore a supported failover environment.
