Getting NFS error when try to mount a share from EMC isilion RPC Error: Authentication error (retrying) or timeout
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- EMC Isilion
- OneFS 5.0 - 5.5
- OneFS 6.0 - 6.5
- OneFS 7.0
Issue
- We are trying to mount NAS share. It is working for one server and for other we are getting below NFS error.
mount[13328]: mount to NFS server 'nfs.example.com' failed: RPC Error: Authentication error (retrying).
Resolution

By default, the NFS server in OneFS accepts NFS connections only from privileged ports (TCP/IP ports 1023 and lower). EMC provide an article explains how to configure OneFS to allow NFS mounts from unprivileged ports (1024 and higher).

Please contact EMC for the procedure to allow the connection in port 1024 and higher.
