snmpwalk command from remote host returns Timeout error message.

Issue

  • snmpwalk command working fine on snmp server machine and returning the output.
Eg:

[root@snmp ~]# snmpwalk -v 2c -c GETS3RV3R1NFO! snmp.server.example.com
SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Linux snmp.server.example.com 2.6.32-131.0.15.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue May 10 15:42:40 EDT 2011 x86_64
SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: NET-SNMP-MIB::netSnmpAgentOIDs.10
DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (18363888) 2 days, 3:00:38.88
SNMPv2-MIB::sysContact.0 = STRING: root@localhost
  • But from remote system, snmpwalk command always returns Timeout error.
Eg:

[root@client ~]# snmpwalk -v 2c -c GETS3RV3R1NFO! snmp.server.example.com
Timeout: No Response from snmp.server.example.com
