Why Bonding checksumming status by ethtool does not reflect underlying physical NIC state in RHEL6?

Issue

  • After disabling RX/TX checksum feature on the phyiscal slave interfaces, ethtool -k for bond device still reflects as enabled.
  • How to disable checksumming on bonded interface?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.5.
  • kernel version: 2.6.32-431.11.2.el6.x86_64
  • NIC Bonding.
  • ethtool utility.
