How to properly size and position the crashkernel in RHEL 5?
Issue
- Please provide instructions for properly calculating
crashkernel=setting for a system with a large amount of RAM. service kdump startfails withcrashkernel reservation failed- Booting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 with the
crashkernel=X@Yparameter enabled for the kdump kernel does not always succeed.

- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
kdumpfromkexec-toolsto capture vmcore- System with large amount of memory
