Not able to change NIS password using yppasswd and results in "RPC: Server can't decode arguments:

• When trying to change the password of an NIS user using yppasswd, following error is noticed after entering the current and new passwords:

Changing NIS account information for XXXX on nismaster.
Please enter old password:
Changing NIS password for XXXX on nismaster.
Please enter new password:
Please retype new password:
RPC: Server can't decode arguments
The NIS password has not been changed on nismaster
