The RHN Monitoring Daemon (RHNMD) is not responding

Issue

  • Service rhnmd status command returns following error:
# service rhnmd status
The RHN Monitoring Daemon (RHNMD) is not responding: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.5 
(Santiago). Please make sure the daemon is running and the host is accessible from the monitoring scout.
 Command was: /usr/bin/ssh -l pwmgract -p 22 -i /var/lib/nocpulse/.ssh/nocpulse-identity -o 
StrictHostKeyChecking=no -o BatchMode=yes xxx.xx.xxx.xxx /bin/sh -s

Environment

  • Red Hat Network Satellite version 5.4 and higher
