PDF files with non-embedded fonts may not print properly in RHEL

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When printing a PDF document with a barcode, the barcode does not appear. Normal numeric digits are being printed instead.
  • The "Code128bWin" barcode font is installed in /usr/share/fonts/. The barcode fonts in the PDF file aren't printing properly.
  • A barcode using the "IDAutomationHC39S" font is not being printed.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.4.2
