When using a Broadcom 578xx card iSCSI offload does not work with the bnx2i driver under RHEL 6.1
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1
- Broadcom 578xx Daughter Card/PCI Card
Issue
- A server is listed as "Certified - Supported" on Red Hat's Hardware Certification site, but it was purchased with a Broadcom 578xx device. Is that Broadcom device also certified and supported by Red Hat?
Resolution
- iSCSI offload does work on these cards when using TCP/IP
- iSCSI does work using the bnx2i driver under Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2
Root Cause
- This is a known bug:
Unable to use offload iscsi driver to reach target using Broadcom 57800 / 57810
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=800361
- The interfaces do not get created automatically in RHEL 6.1 if you the bnx2i driver for iSCSI offload. You can creates the ifaces manual, but it fail with the following error "Connection to discovery portal failed. an internal error occurred
- This is working as expected in RHEL 6.2
