Issue

• Want to get the microphone (for Skype) working.

• To achieve this was looking forward for Main Menu option, Could not launch "Main Menu" option in system Preference :

system->>Preferences->>Main Menu 

• As soon as I enter the request below message is observed on screen:

Could not launch 'Main Menu'
Cailed to execute child process
"alacarte" (no such file or directory)

• Tried installing alacarte but still cannot activate the microphone (external LogitechHD 720P)

[root@example.com]# yum install alacarte.

• Under System -> Preferences -> Sound only "Internal Audio Analog Stereo". Tried both: Line-In and Microphone. Neither option work.

• Does this mean the system cannot use the external camera+microphone (they plug into an USB connector)?

• Tried to install GNU libraries to work around the issue but instead but got stuck with that installation.
