kdump service fail with error: "No module mptscsi found for kernel"
Issue
- kdump service fail with following error messages on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
# service kdump start
No kdump initial ramdisk found. [WARNING]
Rebuilding /boot/initrd-2.6.18-371.4.1.el5kdump.img
No module mptscsi found for kernel 2.6.18-371.4.1.el5, aborting.
Failed to run mkdumprd
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- kdump
- mptscsi (or any other third-party module)
