Traffic not flowing over eth0 on RHEL4.9

Issue

  • We have a server with nmon showing no traffic utilizing eth0, which is configured as the "public" interface for all application traffic to connect through.
  • Both tcpdump seeing 50 packets in 0.014s and the switch port counter increasing indicate that traffic IS going over eth0, but the NIC/driver are NOT updating the counters like they should.

Environment

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.9
- kernel-2.6.9-103.ELlargesmp , bnx2x driver.
HP ProLiant BL460 G6
- Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM57711E 10-Gigabit PCIe
