Why does system become slow with "gnome-system-monitor" in full screen ?

Issue

  • Installed RHEL6.5 on a system with "MGA G200eR2" graphics, it is using xorg-x11-drv-mga driver for display.
  • When trying to run "gnome-system-monitor" or "glxgears" in full screen, Xorg start using 100% CPU.
  • This issue was not observed with xorg-x11-drv-vesa driver on same system.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5
  • xorg-x11-drv-mga-1.6.1-10.el6.x86_64
