What troubleshooting steps should I take if after completing a vgimportclone I see IO errors after mounting the imported disk?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • After importing new disks with vgimportclone and then mounting those disks, running a du on the mounted directory produces IO errors.

  • For example, /dev/vg01/lvol0 was imported with vgimportclone to create /dev/vg01-2091/lvol0 (note the -2091 in the volume group name). When /dev/vg01-2091/lvol0 is mounted under /mnt/test-new, the mount returns no IO errors, but a du /mnt/test-new returns IO errors. vmimportclone was used in order to allow both the original and a copy of a block device to be mounted at the same time.
