RHEL6: ipmi commands (including IBM DSA) stop working after IBM IMM reset
Issue
- RHEL 6.5 system lose access to IBM IMM after reset, ipmi_thread spins
- After resetting the IMM from the web interface or with
ipmitool mc reset cold, IPMI commands no longer operate, and thekipmi0process takes 100% CPU - In particular IBM's DSA tool does not work after an IMM reset because it uses IPMI, amongst other methods, to gather data.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- IBM xSeries with original model IMM (not IMM2)
