"Unable to locate printer..." while printing in Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Issue

  • In one of our production servers the printer is disabled suddenly. We are not able to enable the printer and are getting the message "Unable to locate printer..."

  • The output of the lpstat command shows the following status:

    printer testlaser disabled since Tue Aug 23 10:40:36 2016 -
        Unable to locate printer 'testlaesr'!

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS)
