Issue

  • fdisk is listing logical volumes as devices in RHEL6
[root@rhel6 ~]# fdisk -l | grep 'Disk /'
Disk /dev/vda: 10.7 GB, 10737418240 bytes
Disk /dev/vdb: 1073 MB, 1073741824 bytes
Disk /dev/mapper/vg_rhel6-lv_root: 8095 MB, 8095006720 bytes
Disk /dev/mapper/vg_rhel6-lv_swap: 2113 MB, 2113929216 bytes
  • fdisk does NOT list logical volumes as devices in RHEL5
[root@rhel5 ~]# fdisk -l | grep 'Disk /'
Disk /dev/vda: 10.7 GB, 10737418240 bytes
Disk /dev/vdb: 10.7 GB, 10737418240 bytes
