"This application will be blocked in a future Java security update" in webstart application

Issue

  • When running a webstart application under java 1.7.0_45 I get the error:

    This application will be blocked in a future Java security update because the JAR file manifest does not contain the Permissions attribute. Please contact the Publisher for more Information."

    The jar with the webstart main class is does have the Permissions attribute in the manifest file.

  • Webstart application
  • Oracle Java JDK 1.7.0_45 or later
