Not able to start the VNC/Xorg server service ?

Issue

ISSUE-1

  • Not able to start the vnc service, it fails with following error.
# service vncserver restart
Shutting down VNC server: 1:oracle                         [FAILED]
Starting VNC server: 1:oracle
Warning: hostname:1 is taken because of /tmp/.X1-lock
Remove this file if there is no X server hostname:1
A VNC server is already running as :1
  • Following error message is seen under ~/.vnc
Xvnc: symbol lookup error: Xvnc: undefined symbol: BuiltinRegisterFpeFunctions

ISSUE-2

  • Unable to start Xorg server in RHEL5. Getting following errors on execution of "startx" command:
X: sysmbol lookup error: X:undefined symbol : BuiltinRegisterFpeFuctions

  • vnc-server
