Issue

  • yum update exits with following error:

Resolution

  • Remove the package that have missing dependencies.
rpm -e cifs-utils-4.8.1-18.el6.x86_64
  • Install it using yum to satisfy dependencies:
yum install cifs-utils

  • The package having dependency issue was likely installed using RPM with --nodeps parameter

so what to do if I don't want to remove the previously installed package ? That's not always an option, which is why it was forced with -nodeps to begin with.
