"lp.land" and "lp.port" commands in RHEL

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS)

Issue

I am converting a system from Solaris to RHEL. In Solaris, there were two files, /bin/lp.port and /bin/lp.land which were used to print in portrait and landscape modes, respectively. Where do I find these in RHEL so my end users print correctly?

Resolution

These files must be created, as they are not part of the normal Red Hat Enterprise Linux distirubtion.

Root Cause

The files /bin/lp.port and /bin/lp.land files do not exist in RHEL.
