Cancel Activity property not working on Boundary Signal Event

Issue

Reusable sub process is created and it is referenced in the main process in the Call Activity node. This node has boundary event attached with Cancel Activity property set to true.
However the subprocess is not canceled even after signalling the main process like this:

ksession.signalEvent("signalId", null);

Is this expected behavior or a bug?
