JBoss Web Server management plug-in reports Tomcat as down when it is started using daemon.sh

Issue

  • Problems to monitor Tomcat
  • We are experiencing troubles when trying to monitor Tomcat
  • If we start Tomcat as a service the resource called Tomcat Connectors seems to be down
  • Where to configure JMX properties when running as a service?
  • Tomcat is reported as unavailable

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (ON) 3.2
  • Red Hat JBoss Web Server (WS) management plug-in for JBoss ON
  • Tomcat Server resource has been imported into inventory
  • All Tomcat connectors resources are reported as down or unavailable
  • Tomcat instance has been started using daemon.sh and is running and servicing requests
  • setenv.sh located in $CATALINA_BASE/bin does not include the required JMX configuration properties assigned to JAVA_OPTS
