After upgrading to RHEL 5.9 sockets are staying in the TIME_WAIT state for longer
Issue
- too many time-wait message "timewait (0.00/0/0)" after changing kernel from 2.6.18-308.EL5 to 2.6.18-348.EL5. When timewait expires, after 20s and 4-50s, each time-wait session was cleaned up completely.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9
- kernel-2.6.18.348
- /etc/sysctl.conf
- net.ipv4.tcp_tw_recycle = 0
- net.ipv4.tcp_tw_reuse = 1
- /etc/sysctl.conf
- kernel-2.6.18.348
