When trying to add multipath getting error: "Error calling out /lib/udev/scsi_id --whitelisted"

Issue

  • Our multipath devices for SAN devices are not being created on boot and when we try adding the multipaths manually - we get an error:
# multipath -v2
Error calling out  /lib/udev/scsi_id --whitelisted --page=pre-spc3-83 --device=/dev/sdb
Error calling out  /lib/udev/scsi_id --whitelisted --page=pre-spc3-83 --device=/dev/sdc
Error calling out  /lib/udev/scsi_id --whitelisted --page=pre-spc3-83 --device=/dev/sdd
Error calling out  /lib/udev/scsi_id --whitelisted --page=pre-spc3-83 --device=/dev/sde
