"ifcfg-ethX" file is not created after adding a new nic to a RHEL based rhev guest or KVM guest.

Issue

  • Added a nic to a RHEL6 based rhev guest and KVM guest but unable to get /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethX file though its adding an udev rules entry in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules file.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 5, 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.X
  • KVM(virt-manager)
