Red Hat Enterprise MRG realtime kernel is unresponsive - qla2xxx driver logs 'Mailbox cmd timeout'
Issue
- We see
qla2xxx 'Mailbox cmd timeout'in the messages. Some time after this the system will hang. - Since the update from RHEL6.3 to 6.5 with MRG-RT 2.4 we got intermittent qla2xxx failures on HP BL460c G6 systems.
- Shortly after those often the system will hang.
- Systems with realtime kernels of Red Hat Enterprise MRG become unresponsive/hung due to a deadlock of certain kernel threads as outlined under Root Cause.
- The qla2xxx driver may log 'Mailbox cmd timeout' messages in connection with this deadlock.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 with realtime kernel
- MRG-RT 2.4
- realtime kernel
3.8.13-rt14.26.el6rt.x86_64 - realtime kernel
