SMBv2 share intermittently returns "Input/output error" after idle periods for specific users on RHEL 7
Issue
- An SMBv2+ share returns an
Input/outputerror when accessed by certain users following an idle period. - When the error
CIFS VFS: Unexpected lookup error -5appears in the logs, shares must be remounted to regain access.
