MTV: Forklift controller cannot connect to vCenter when the default pod network does not have connectivity to vCenter

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The forklift-controller pod annot connect to a source provider (vCenter/RHV) because the default OpenShift pod network does not have a network route to the provider's network.
  • While MTV allows specifying a transferNetwork for a migration plan, this only adds a secondary network to the importer and populator pods..
  • There is no option in the Forklift custom resource to add a secondary network to the forklift-controller pod itself, which is required for the initial connection and inventory.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.x.
    • OpenShift Virtualization 4.x
  • Migration Toolkit for Virtualization(MTV) 2.x.
