Issue

  • Since the release of insights core 3.6.7, every execution of the insights-client command shows the following behavior:

    # insights-client
Starting to collect Insights data for rhel.example.com
HTTPSConnectionPool(host='cert-api.access.redhat.com', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /r/insights/platform/inventory/v1/host_exists?insights_id=xxxxxxx-a643-48d0-8f4f-xxxxxxx (Caused by SSLError(SSLCertVerificationError(1, '[SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: unable to get local issuer certificate (_ssl.c:1147)')))
The Insights API could not be reached.
Writing RHSM facts to /etc/rhsm/facts/insights-client.facts ...
    Uploading Insights data.
Successfully uploaded report from rhel.example.com to account xxxxxx.

  • The problem is visible only for the RHEL systems that have the insights core version updated to 3.6.7 and are being managed by a Red Hat Satellite/Capsule server.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
