CPU Hotplug of virtual machine from UI fails with message "RestartRequired" in OpenShift Virtualization

Issue

  • When attempting to hotplug CPUs on a running Virtual Machine (VM) using the OpenShift Virtualization web console, the operation fails. The VM status changes to RestartRequired, and a "Pending Changes" message appears in the UI, stating: a non-live-updatable field was changed in the template spec.
  • This issue affects VMs migrated from VMware using MTV.
