HTTP output with `AtLeastOnce` does not block in RHOCP 4

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • It is unclear how different outputs (syslog and HTTP) behave different when using the tuning option AtLeastOnce
  • When it is configured a syslog output and used the tuning option AtLeastOnce, when the disk buffer gets full, the collector stops of reading more logs as expected by Red Hat Knowledge Article "Tuning log payloads and delivery in RHOCP 4"
  • When it is configured an HTTP output and used the tuning option AtLeastOnce, the collector does not stop of reading logs, the Vector checkpoints continue being updated and the disk buffer is sometimes reducing its size. This behaviour is not the expected and not the same that the observed for when using syslog output

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP)
    • 4
  • Red Hat OpenShift Logging (RHOL)
    • 6.3
  • Vector
  • HTTP sink
