OpenShift Virtualization VM stuck in "Starting" state with "unexpected live migration state" error

Issue

  • Virtual Machine using OVN localnet secondary network gets stuck in the Starting state.
    The ovnkube-controller logs show error: Failed to discover Live-migration status: unexpected live migration state at pods: <virt-launcher-pod-name-1>,<virt-launcher-pod-name-2>,<virt-launcher-pod-name-3>

Environment

  • OpenShift Container Platform 4.18, 4.19.
  • OpenShift Virtualization 4.18, 4.19.
