CPU hotplug is not working on Virtual Machine when networkInterfaceMultiqueue is enabled

Issue

  • Network multi-queue functionality is enabled on a Virtual Machine in OpenShift Virtualization. While doing a CPU hotplug on this VM, followed error is observed:
Changes to CPU sockets require a restart when NetworkInterfaceMultiQueue is enabled

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.17, 4.18.
    • OpenShift Virtualization 4.17, 4.18.
