Is it possible to replace a control plane node in a bare metal cluster installed with Agent-based Installer?
Issue
- One of the control plane nodes is no longer working — either because it became NotReady, or due to physical hardware failure. The node is not recognized by the cluster anymore, and we want to replace it to restore full functionality.
-
There is a relevant document, 6.2.4. Replacing the unhealthy etcd member. However, this procedure seems to assume an IPI or UPI environment, and may not work for a bare metal cluster installed using the Agent-based Installer (ABI), especially in environments without Baseboard Management Controller(BMC).

Is there any officially supported method for this case?
Environment
- Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
- 4
- Agent-based Installer
- Bare metal nodes
- No BMC (Baseboard Management Controller)
