USB NIC does not keep the same MAC address between reboots

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • USB network interface changes its MAC address in ip link or ip address every reboot.
  • This only happens when the cdc_subset driver is used. If cdc_ether is used then this does not happen.
$ lsusb

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4
  • USB network interface card using cdc_subset driver
