Local FS fails to mount, due to a bad unit file setting

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • A local FS, or its dependencies, fails to mount during boot, however could be mounted normally after the system comes up.
  • I am seeing errors like this on the system logs:

systemd[1]: local-fs.target: Cannot add dependency job, ignoring: Unit <mount_point>.mount has a bad unit file setting.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10
  • systemd
