Is it possible to use the internal load balancer for API and application ingress traffic, and not to configure an external load balancer for Agent-Based Installer.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

When deploying a platform-agnostic OCP cluster, there appears to be a difference in load balancer requirements between the Assisted and Agent-based Installers. The Assisted Installer can utilize an internal load balancer, avoiding the need for an external one in certain configurations. However, the Agent-based Installer seems to always require an external load balancer.

Environment

  • OpenShift Container Platform 4.x
  • Agent-Based Installer (ABI)
  • Assisted Installer
