Why does the irqbalance service show error `libcap-ng used by "/usr/sbin/irqbalance" failed dropping bounding set in capng_apply` when SELinux is in enforcing mode ?

Issue

  • Afer updating irqbalance package an error occurs when checking the status of the service. The warning message is as follows:

    # systemctl status irqbalance
    ● irqbalance.service - irqbalance daemon
     Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/irqbalance.service; enabled; preset: enabled)
    Drop-In: /etc/systemd/system/irqbalance.service.d
             └─override.conf

    Dec 11 09:03:09 localhost systemd[1]: Started irqbalance daemon.
    Dec 11 09:03:09 localhost /usr/sbin/irqbalance[707]: libcap-ng used by "/usr/sbin/irqbalance" failed dropping 
    bounding set in capng_apply
    Dec 11 09:03:20 localhost.localdomain irqbalance[707]: Cannot change IRQ 44 affinity: Input/output error
    Dec 11 09:03:20 localhost.localdomain irqbalance[707]: IRQ 44 affinity is now unmanaged
    
    

    Note: Despite the warning, the service remains in an "active (running)" state.
