How should the crashkernel parameter be configured for using kdump on HPE DL384 Gen12?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9.4
  • Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) ProLiant DL384 Gen12

Issue

The HPE DL384 Gen12, an NVIDIA Grace Hopper-based server, failed to generate the vmcore both locally and over NFS when running kdump

Resolution

To successfully generate the vmcore locally or over NFS when running kdump, a specific crashkernel value of 'crashkernel=2G' needs to be manually configured, rather than using the default setting of 'crashkernel=1G-4G:192M,4G-64G:256M,64G-:512M'.
