VM in OpenShift Virtualization cannot start when a SSH public key is added

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When creating a new VM in OpenShift Virtualization we add a public SSH key.
  • The VM fails to start because fails to mount the secret:

MountVolume.SetUp failed for volume "foobar-access-cred" : secret "foobar" not found

Environment

  • OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) 4.16.10
  • OpenShift Virtualization 4.16.2
