Overcloud node deployment fails when using 4kN advanced format disks

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • By default GUID Partition Table (GPT) partitioning results in a disk being formatted with 512-byte sectors which is incompatible with advanced 4kN (4k native) sector usage.
  • As a result, the disk image cannot be used for hardware using 4K native sectors, causing the Overcloud node installation to fail and breaking the deployment.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform (RHOSP) 17.1.x
