Replicating Objects to External Multicloud Object Gateway (MCG) Buckets - OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF)
Issue
The following process will discuss replicating entire objects to an external Object Bucket Claim (OBC). Because the goal of this article is to show the replication of an object to an external bucket, Namespacestores will be used. The aim is to make this article as simple and concise as possible as this is a complex topic. If configurations involving Backingstores, bucket policies, or any further customization are desired. The concepts in this solution can be applied to achieve external bucket replication, and customization can be further researched/implemented later to tailor the user's desired state.
If internal replication is desired, that is a fairly simple and straightforward process that can be found in the 8.1. Replicating a bucket to another bucket of the MCG Product Documentation.
The replication process can be accomplished via the OCP Console GUI. However, what is shown below in this solution was accomplished by using the NooBaa CLI.
To install the NooBaa CLI, see section 2.2. Accessing the Multicloud Object Gateway from the MCG command-line interface of the MCG Product Documentation.
