Migrating a virtual machine from OCP to OCP using MTV is failing with error "no space left on device"

Issue

  • Migrating a virtual machine from one OpenShift Virtualization environment to another is not working.
  • During the migration, the importer pod in the target OpenShift Virtualization logged below error message:
E0724 11:59:38.418447       1 util.go:196] Unable to write file from dataReader: write /scratch/tmpimage: no space left on device
E0724 11:59:38.815443       1 data-processor.go:255] write /scratch/tmpimage: no space left on device
unable to write to file
  • Both the source and target cluster are using block volumes for VM disks.

Environment

  • OpenShift Container Platform 4.15.
    • OpenShift Virtualization 4.15.
  • Migration Toolkit for Virtualization 2.6.
