How to solve "Workspace is not initialized" error when accessing custom portal workspace throught REST service in JPP 6.0

Issue

We have created our custom portal based on gatein-sample-portal quickstart and when trying to access its workspace thought the REST interface in URL http://{host}:{port}/rest/private/jcr/repository/{workspace-name}, we have the following error message:

Workspace '{workspace-name}' not found. Probably is not initialized. If so either Initialize it manually or turn on the RepositoryInitialize

What are we doing wrong?
