Operator is not available from Operator Hub in RHOCP 4

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP)
    • 4.z

Issue

The operator is missing from the Operator Hub in 4.z

Resolution

  • Sometimes the operator is unavailable in the Operator Hub when the cluster upgrades.
  • The operator should be available in sometime, as the developer has to provide the metadata to a RedHat pipeline for it to get available or can be checked with the operator vendor to get more information.

Root Cause

The operator developer has to provide metadata to a RedHat pipeline in order to actually show up in the update path for an operator in the operator hub.

Diagnostic Steps

Below is an example where the cluster is recently upgraded to 4.16.z. The Nutanix CSI operator is missing from the Operator Hub.
