RHEL8: dracut doesn't generate the initramfs upon kernel update

Issue

  • When updating the kernel, the following message can be seen

    Running scriptlet: kernel-core-4.18.0-553.8.1.el8_10.x86_64                                                                                                                                    2/2
dracut: dracut module 'network-legacy' cannot be found or installed.
warning: %posttrans(kernel-core-4.18.0-553.8.1.el8_10.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

  • When executing dracut -f command, the following message can be seen

    # dracut -f
dracut: dracut module 'network-legacy' cannot be found or installed.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
    • systems initially installed with RHEL8.0 up to RHEL8.3 included
