reloadSslHostConfigs no longer functioning on JWS 5.8

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We use the Tomcat manager to trigger ssl config reloads with requests like /manager/jmxproxy?invoke=Catalina:type=ProtocolHandler,port=8443&op=reloadSslHostConfigs. After updating to JWS 5.8, this is no longer functional. The ssl config is not reloaded. We depend on this to reload an update of our configured certificateRevocationListFile, but this is not reloaded to lead to eventual handshake failures if we do not restart Tomcat.

Environment

  • JBoss Web Server (JWS) 5.8
    • Tomcat 9.0.87
