Creation of ocf:heartbeat:awsvip resource in Pacemaker cluster fails with error : "not installed or does not provide valid metadata"

Issue

  • Creation of Private IP address resource awsvip fails with following error :

    # pcs resource create demo_VIP ocf:heartbeat:awsvip secondary_private_ip=10.150.x.x
Error: Agent 'ocf:heartbeat:awsvip' is not installed or does not provide valid metadata: crm_resource: Metadata 
query for ocf:heartbeat:awsvip failed: No such device or address, Error performing operation: No such object, use 
--force to override
Error: Errors have occurred, therefore pcs is unable to continue

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (with the High Availability Add-on)
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 instance as a cluster member
