After PVC expansion kubelet report: VolumeResizeFailed - NodeExpandVolume.NodeExpandVolume failed for volume - Expander.NodeExpand found CSI plugin kubernetes.io/csi/openshift-storage.cephfs.csi.ceph.com to not support node expansion

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • This is OCP 4.13.15 and ODF 4.13.7

  • Customer expanded the PVC "filelog" (PV "pvc-6615a415-2a51-4477-82a3-20cd2d0d98a0") of namespace "ocp-apigw" from initial 10GB to 15GB (increased 5 GB)

  • PVC was correctly expanded as per csi logs:

    csi-cephfsplugin-provisioner-5c7c57bdb9-btb2m/csi-resizer/csi-resizer/logs/current.log

    2024-03-25T01:21:36.058942366Z I0325 01:21:36.058912 1 event.go:285] Event(v1.ObjectReference{Kind:"PersistentVolumeClaim", Namespace:"ocp-apigw", Name:"filelog", UID:"6615a415-2a51-4477-82a3-20cd2d0d98a0", APIVersion:"v1", ResourceVersion:"177342606", FieldPath:""}): type: 'Normal' reason: 'VolumeResizeSuccessful' Resize volume succeeded

  • BUT kubelet report this annoying error:

LAST SEEN TYPE REASON OBJECT MESSAGE

  • NOTE. This issue can be observed with other csi drivers, for example while expanding vSphere raw-block volume (volumeMode: Block)
